A Ceasefire Must Not Stall Israel's Growing Isolation

Analysis by +972 Magazine published one week into the October 2025 ceasefire, arguing that while the ceasefire has for the most part halted the mass killing of Palestinians, it must not be used to stall the growing global movement for Palestinian rights and Israeli accountability. The piece argues that Jewish supremacy in Palestine is increasingly regarded as illegitimate globally, and that if the genocide has rendered Gaza uninhabitable for Palestinians, it has also made the world newly inhospitable to Zionism. Over 2 days following the ceasefire, 20 Israeli captives were exchanged for nearly 2,000 Palestinian men, women, and children. Recommended for researchers and activists studying the relationship between the ceasefire and global solidarity movements, international isolation of Israel, and the longer-term political trajectory that the War on Gaza and its ceasefire have produced.
